POSITION GOAL

Responsible for reviewing the District’s Teacher certification process, ensuring compliance, and eligibility with the Florida Department of Education certification requirements. Analyze department processes and automated programs to identify areas of improvement and to affect changes as driven by bottom-up needs or top-down mandates. Ensure department processes, policies, and statutes are aligned in response to stakeholder feedback and needs through creating, implementing and maintaining SAP programmatic functions and databases.

 

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Analyst, Certification shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below.

Design and develop processes which support departmental initiatives and areas of responsibility.

Develop and maintain tables in enterprise computer applications and database systems as needed based on district, state, and federal mandates associated with teacher certification and incentives.

Develop and maintain databases which support departmental processes and foster continuity between SAP ERP programs and end user functionality.

Research, compile, and prepare data for reports, recommendations, and process follow-up.

Perform comparative analyses on statistical information from raw databases to determine areas of improvement and/or action.

Perform analysis of multiple Data Warehouse reports for charter school audits.

Improve departmental processes through review of paper processes, identification of opportunities for increased efficiency, and through automation of processes where feasible.

Conduct training for charter school principals for teaching out-of-field requirements.

Resolve certification issues presented by directors, principals, and school staff within traditional and charter schools by application of decision-making skills.

Guide applicants and current instructional staff through certification process.

Maintain knowledge of Board policies and state and federal statutes as related to teacher certification.

Review instructional staff out-of-field records, updates compliance status as needed, and advise principals regarding instructional staff out-of-field compliance status.

Offer academic advisement, evaluate and analyze transcripts.

Evaluate and determine certification eligibility for instructional and Career and Technical Education (CTE) teaching applicants to ensure ability to obtain appropriate certification.

Develop effective tools for communication of certification/incentives information to internal and external customers.

Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.

Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.

Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.

Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.

Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.

Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

An earned associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
A minimum of four (4) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the position.
Knowledge of Florida State Statutes and Regulations regarding Educator Certification.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to evaluate certifications, and vocational work experience for credentialing.
Computer skills for the position including those related to database creation and maintenance.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
A minimum of three (3) of experience and/or training in the field related to the position.
Experience with database management.
Bilingual skills.

Works with District, school-based personnel, parents and students to perform daily tasks.

 
 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.

 
 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
