POSITION GOAL

To primarily use Building Information Modeling (BIM) Revit software, or AutoCAD software, when necessary, to generate Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) related drawings pertaining to Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) and administrative facilities. Organize and maintain FISH data for BCPS facilities as required by the State of Florida. Manage BCPS administrative facilities and ensure the optimum utilization of administrative spaces contained within the facilities are consistent with the BCPS Administrative Space Utilization Standards and Building Owners and Managers Association International (BOMA) office standards. Process applications for the location of BCPS personnel into administrative offices/cubicles by using BIM Revit, or AutoCAD, when necessary, to conduct spatial analysis and planning for such location. Coordinate as necessary the generation of cost analysis for planned locations, schedule and manage the related project(s), and maintain an accurate database of all BCPS administrative offices/cubicles.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Coordinator, Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) shall carry out the essential performance responsibilities listed below: 

  • Supervise the Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), Draftsperson D, the Space Planning Analyst, and other staff as assigned such as Temporary ESMAB Administrator(s) in the performance of job duties.  
  • Coordinate and supervise the generation and provision of FISH related drawings for all BCPS school and administrative facilities, using BIM Revit, or AutoCAD when necessary.  
  • Determine FISH data from construction documents prepared by architects and engineers for new construction, renovations and building additions in BCPS. 
  • Assign FISH numbers to BCPS buildings and rooms. 
  • Report accurate FISH data of BCPS facilities to the State of Florida and maintain a record of the data reported. 
  • Survey all existing facilities in BCPS and coordinate with other pertinent departments and BCPS staff personnel, to keep BCPS FISH data current. 
  • Verify, prepare, and update the BCPS building floor plan and site plans based on FISH related drawings for consistency with the current established Facility Planning & Real Estate BIM Departmental standards, or at a minimum, in AutoCAD format prior to filing in the BCPS FISH database. 
  • Manage and supervise field inspections of BCPS school and administrative facilities and on-site conditions to ascertain accuracy as relates to the BIM Revit or AutoCAD building floor plan and site plan FISH related drawings. 
  • Conduct and supervise on-site investigations and surveys to keep up to date BCPS school facilities plans which include but are not limited to portables, playgrounds, playfields/courts, parking, and hurricane shelters. 
  • Assist school principals with the coordination and installation of FISH numbers.  
  • Serve as BCPS FISH liaison with the Florida Department of Education (FDOE). 
  • Serve as the clearinghouse for all requests regarding the BIM or AutoCAD building floor plan and site plan FISH related drawings for BCPS facilities. 
  • Prepare reports as directed based on FISH data for various BCPS departments.  
  • Assist the Director in generating data needed for facility planning meetings to determine future capital needs. 
  • Supervise the processing of applications for the location of BCPS personnel into administrative offices/cubicles by using BIM Revit or AutoCAD, when necessary, to conduct spatial analysis and planning for such location. 
  • Assist as directed with the development of the Five-Year Educational Plant Survey, the input of the related data and recommendations into the Florida Department of Education (FDOE) online system, and the submittal of the Five-Year Educational Plant Survey to the FDOE for review and validation.  
  • Assist in the update and maintenance of the validated Five-Year Educational Plant Survey. 
  • Assist as directed with the administration of the Supplemental (Spot) Surveys to amend the Five-Year Educational Plant Survey, input the related data and recommendations into the FDOE online system, and submit the Supplemental (Spot) Surveys to the FDOE for review and validation.  
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. • Participate in the training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to the job responsibilities. 
  • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to the job responsibilities. 
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures. 
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, or designee. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • An earned associate degree in architecture, facilities management, facilities planning & management, or other related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five (5) years, within the last eight (8) years of experience using BIM Revit or AutoCAD software.
  • Knowledge of the FISH database, or similar database.
  • Computer skills are required for the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • An earned bachelor’s degree in architecture, facilities management, facilities planning & management or related field from an accredited institution.  
  • Three (3) years of experience using BIM Revit and AutoCAD software. 
  • Experience and knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS). 
  • One (1) year of experience using EnScape software or similar software. 
  • Bilingual skills. 

SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose

Frequent communication with principals, architects, engineers, BCPS school and departmental directors, BCPS project managers, to provide and receive information about the schools’ inventory regarding construction, additions, renovations, and other related matters. Provide as necessary, BIM format or AutoCAD drawings for each elementary, middle, high school, centers, and vocational facilities. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
