DIRECTOR, MAGNET & INNOVATIVE PROGRAMS

POSITION GOAL
To develop, implement, market, and evaluate magnet programs, innovative educational initiatives, and choice options that promote district-wide access to high-quality educational options.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide strategic leadership, insight, and vision for the District in the development, implementation, marketing, and evaluation of magnet programs, innovative educational pathways, and school choice options for students and families.
- Serve as an advocate for students and families in matters relating to school choice and access to high-quality educational options.
- Serve as a liaison between and among various District departments, students, parents, business/industry, and the community.
- Work cooperatively with community groups, school-based administrators, and District personnel to develop/strengthen magnet programs.
- Represent the District in matters related to magnet programs, innovation initiatives, and school choice options at the local, state, and national levels.
- Assist in the development and implementation of professional learning and support for teachers and school-based administrators relating to magnet/innovative programs.
- Identify policies which are applicable to magnet/innovative programs and school choice options and make recommendations for the resolution of any identified discrepancies.
- Monitor the administration of policies which apply to magnet/innovative programs and school choice options.
- Coordinate the identification of needs for magnet/innovative programs options, including student interest areas, transportation, guidelines, potential sites, and logistics for implementation.
- Research and review successful programs and identify their applicability for implementation in Broward County.
- Utilize a variety of data sets to recommend the implementation and sunsetting of magnet/innovative programs.
- Develop a plan to ensure consistent District-wide marketing and coordination of all magnet/innovative programs and school choice options.
- Facilitate implementation of the District-wide marketing and coordination plan for magnet/innovative programs.
- Monitor/evaluate the marketing and coordination plan for effectiveness.
- Coordinate student awareness/recruitment activities for magnet/innovative programs.
- Assist in the development of individual goals for all magnet/innovative programs.
- Monitor/evaluate progress of individual programs toward completion of previously established goals.
- Identify/acquire alternate sources of long-term funding for magnet/innovative programs.
- Secure financing and oversee preparation for grant proposals.
- Develop and oversee the countywide magnet/innovative programs budget, ensuring accurate records of expenditures of all operating or special revenue funds appropriated for these programs.
- Oversees all aspects of the Home School Education Office.
- Oversees all aspects of the School Choice Office.
- Be knowledgeable and skilled in the use of the latest technology and be able to integrate that technology into the curriculum as a delivery tool.
- Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
- Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
- Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
- Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- An earned master's degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience within a school district in a field related to the title of the position, including two (2) years of school-based or program management experience.
- Florida certification at the master's level.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on oral communication and writing skills.
- Indication of progressive school-based leadership responsibility, including instructional and administrative.
- Effective verbal, interpersonal, written communication skills.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Familiarity with marketing/promotional techniques and school choice options research is desirable.
- Bilingual skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
