POSITION GOAL

This position is responsible for developing and maintaining grant resources, researching funding sources and writing proposals to secure and maintain grant funding for the District.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in determining proposal concepts by studying requests for proposals, conducting needs assessments, and developing measurable objectives. 
  • Prepare grant proposals that respond appropriately to grant requirements, including but not limited to the design of the program, management plan, and the evaluation component of the grant. 
  • Meet proposal deadlines by coordinating grant writing processes within the District and establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, reviewing, transmitting, and approving. 
  • Create and maintain a grant pre-award centralized system for collecting school and department funding needs and a platform of grants and grant-writing resources. 
  • Disseminate information concerning specific grant funding opportunities and prepare and update grant funding opportunity resources. 
  • Inspect, edit, and review grant applications for quality assurance. 
  • Conduct technical assistance workshops for District department and school-based staff concerning funding opportunities, proposal writing, budgeting, and evaluation. 
  • Analyze and interpret the Request for Proposal/Guidelines from funding agencies and determine probability of funding and risks associated with proposals. 
  • Serve as a liaison between potential funding agencies and school district staff; assist with the negotiations of grant awards between federal, state and foundations as required. 
  • Assist and contribute to grants procedural manuals, grants newsletter, executive summaries, and federal, state, and local required documentation. 
  • Work cooperatively with other staff members on grant applications prepared as a group effort. 
  • Research and have familiarity with School District databases and performance evaluation models. 
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. 
  • Participate in any training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to the job responsibilities. 
  • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities. 
  • Ensure adherence to applicable safety rules and procedures. 
  • Follow applicable federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies and State Board rules. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, or designee.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of four (4) years, within the last six (6) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others to develop effective relationships with all individuals awarding or receiving grants.
  • Excellent knowledge of grant writing and proposal submission.
  • Strong research, organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer skills as required for the position.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree major in business, government relations, education, or related field.
  • Bilingual skills.

SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose

Coordinate liaison activities with federal, state, and local legislative entities, colleges and universities, organizations, and coalitions to secure alternative funding from federal, state, and private sources.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
