POSITION GOAL

Ensure the availability of information required to anticipate the impact of proposed land use issues on Broward County Public Schools by participating in growth management meetings and preparing graphic, statistical, and analytical reports.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• An earned master’s degree from an accredited institution in urban planning, or urban and regional planning or related field with degree major in public administration, architecture, landscape architecture, or geography.
• Minimum of three (3) years direct experience working as an urban planner in a local government setting or corporate setting(s), plus a minimum of three (3) years of experience using the current version of ESRI ArcGIS.
• Applicants with degree in a related field must have minimum four (4) years recent direct experience working as an urban planner in a local government setting or corporate setting(s).
OR
• An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in urban planning, or urban and regional planning or related field with degree major in public administration, architecture, landscape architecture, or geography.
• Minimum of five (5) years direct experience working as an urban planner in a local government setting or corporate setting(s), plus a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in using the current version of ESRI ArcGIS.
• Applicants with degree in a related field must have a minimum six (6) years recent direct experience working as an urban planner in a local government setting or corporate setting(s).
AND
• Requires progressively more responsible experience in and knowledge of research and statistical analysis including demonstrated knowledge of Geographic Information System (GIS), and the most current version of ESRI ArcGIS software; population projection methodologies; residential developments, and presentation-ready report development skills.
• Requires knowledge of the urban planning field, including but not limited to the comprehensive plan amendment, rezoning, plat, site plan (or functional equivalent) and local government development review process.
• Requires advanced written and oral communication skills.
• Computer skills as required for the position.
