POSITION GOAL

Ensure that all School District moves and relocations are professionally executed by planning, coordinating, and managing all aspects of the process.

 

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and plan for all required resources to expedite all major moves, including new schools, administrative buildings, and relocations, within the District. 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures to address the operational aspects of the Logistics and Relocation Services group. 
  • Communicate and train staff on the use of department Standard Operating Procedures; distribute updates to all parties as they are developed. 
  • Coordinate with Facilities project managers and Maintenance staff to plan, implement and supervise the installation of fixtures for new schools, additions, renovations, and modules. 
  • Assist the Purchasing Department in the development of contract specifications for external logistics and relocation services. 
  • Meet regularly with owners/managers of contracted workforces to ensure contract specifications are being met and track the results of work performed. 
  • Supervise dumpster deliveries and the movement of trailers for temporary on-site storage or work facilities. 
  • Coordinate with the PPO Stockroom and the District’s B-Stock and Warehouse operations all deliveries of material, equipment, and supplies. 
  • Ensure the success of Broward County School events by supervising the set-up of furniture and the movement of music equipment to school sites and civic centers throughout Broward County. 
  • Utilize available data management and reporting resources to monitor and evaluate department performance by maintaining detailed records, developing reports, analyzing results, and developing improvement strategies. 
  • Ensure that Logistics and Relocation Services staff, as required, maintain driving records that comply with the State’s Driving Record Program. 
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. 
  • Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
  • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities. 
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures. 
  • Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Standard High School Diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.

• Requires knowledge of interstate transportation regulations; at least one (1) year’s supervisory experience in logistics, supply, or contract management, and advanced organizational skills.
• Computer skills as required for the position.

OR

• An earned Associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.
• Requires knowledge of interstate transportation regulations; at least one (1) year’s supervisory experience in logistics, supply, or contract management, and advanced organizational skills.
• Computer skills as required for the position.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Preferred degree majors in general studies, public or business administration, construction management, building construction, or related field.
  • A valid Class “A” Florida Commercial Driver’s License with endorsements compatible with assigned duties is preferred.
  • Bilingual skills preferred.

SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose

Meet regularly with management at all levels throughout the District including Facilities, Purchasing, and Maintenance staff to determine long and short-term requirements, schedules, personnel, equipment, and staffing needs as they relate to logistics and relocation-related services.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
