POSITION GOAL

The Coordinator, Mental Health Services is responsible for assisting in building a fully collaborative mental health service model and ensuring Broward County Schools has adequate support to provide an effective service system aligned with our multi-tiered level system of supports.

The foundation of this plan includes facilitating and implementing policies and procedures relating to the responsibilities of the District, the superintendent, principals, and school staff, to promote a continuum of support services for students that are integrated throughout the school. This will include providing training and technical assistance to school staff and collaborating with community mental health providers.

The expected outcomes from a fully collaborative mental health service model include: 1) improved access to care 2) enhanced preventative services 3) increased early problem identification 4) reduced stigmatization 5) increased likelihood of generalization of intervention across settings.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • An earned master’s degree in mental health counseling, social work, psychology, counseling, education, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a family counselor, school counselor, school psychologist, therapist, social worker, or other full-time counselor in the mental/behavioral health field or educational and related field.
  • Strong leadership and project organizational skills, (planning, implementing, evaluation).
  • Effective verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with individuals, teams, and groups, (teachers, parents, administrators, and support staff).
  • Computer skills as required for the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Licensed Master/Clinical Social Worker (LM/CSW), or similar industry certification(s)/license(s). 
  • Familiarity with technology and various programs to assist with report writing and presentations. 
  • Bilingual skills.
 

SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose

Frequently works with District and school-based administrators, and community mental health professionals to provide required support in behavioral interventions for complex needs and developing certified Broward County School District professionals.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
