HEALTH TECHNICIAN I

POSITION GOAL

To assist in the implementation of school health services.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
• Ability to implement health screening procedures, i.e., vision screening using the Keystone telebinocular machine, scoliosis screening, and/or teaching first aid.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Skills in using health screening instruments or equipment, especially proper use of telebinocular machine; must complete both segments of a telebinocular workshop.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, and to use tact and good judgment.
• Ability to keep accurate records.
• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
• Ability to assist in providing inservice training, e.g., vision and first aid as needed.
• Ability to travel to schools throughout the district.
• Ability to work with bilingual students.
• Ability to work with special needs children.
• Ability to work independently with indirect supervision.
• Computer skills as required for the position.
