TECHNOLOGY SUPPORT SPECIALIST II

POSITION GOAL: Ensure continuous availability of all technology assets for the assigned location by providing technical support of District owned hardware, software, networks, and servers, concentrating in customer concerns, needs issues, training, and guidance.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Technology Support Specialist II shall carry out the essential performance responsibilities listed below: • Provide technical assistance training and guidance to site-based staff and students for both hardware and software applications problems. • Ensure the assigned location has an effective, stable, and consistent digital learning environment, including virtual, by collaborating with customers and district level technology support staff. • Support and ensure adherence to district network security standards and practices. • Coordinate with vendors the acquisition of appropriate hardware and software applications. • Support and ensure adherence to the established hardware and software District Technology Standards. • Assist with the installation of approved hardware, both stand-alone and networked, as needed. • Assist with or conduct the installation of approved software applications. • Perform basic troubleshooting for technology assets. • Perform minor repairs or upgrades to technology assets. • Serve on location technology team and collaborate with other assigned technology staff. • Maintain and coordinate the integration of technology systems into the digital learning environment, as required. • Maintain accurate inventory of all technology assets, hardware, and software. • Maintain technical proficiency by participating in District led meetings and training programs offered to sustain or enhance the Technical Support Specialist’s skills related to the performance responsibilities. • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. • Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to the job responsibilities. • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities. • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures. • Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies. • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, or designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: • A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program. • A minimum of six (6) years of experience in supporting computer systems related to digital environment. OR • An earned associate degree from an accredited institution. • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in supporting computer systems related to digital environment. 2 Technology Support Specialist II (cont.) SBBC: MM-120 AND • Proficiency required in the following: • Basic hardware and software troubleshooting. • Knowledge of Windows, Mac, and iOS operating systems. • Installing and maintaining software applications. • Managing and maintaining computer network systems including Virtual and Local Area Networks. • Supporting enterprise applications used in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and electronic mail, cloud storage and other related applications. • Effective communication skills. • Computer skills as required for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: • Bilingual skills. JOB PROGRESSION LADDER: The Technology Support Specialist I & II jobs are designated as one job for the purpose of job progression when the employee has achieved an evaluation indicating that his/her job performance has met or exceeded the expectations of the job. The Technology Support Specialist I shall be promoted to Technology Support Specialist II after two (2) years of experience in the department/school.
SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS – frequency, contact, purpose, and desired end result: Collaborates with customers at the assigned location and with district level technology support staff to ensure an effective, stable and consistent digital environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board Policy.
