POSITION GOAL
To assist the principal in providing vision and leadership to develop, administer and monitor high-quality educational programs that optimize the human and material resources, including time and space, available for a successful and safe school program for students, staff and community.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- An earned master’s degree from an accredited institution. Technical College Assistant Director may substitute Advanced Vocational Certificate.
- A minimum of four (4) years public school instructional experience or district administrative experience (with at least two [2] years of public school instructional experience). Four (4) years experience at the level at which the position exists is preferred, as outlined in School Board Policy 4002.14.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
Assistant Principals – Hold or be eligible for Florida Certification in Educational Leadership, Administration, or Administration & Supervision. Completion of Leadership Experiences and Administrative Development (LEAD) or a comparable program is a mandatory requirement for eligibility to become an assistant principal.
Assistant Principals – Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Centers – Hold or be eligible for Florida Certification in Educational Leadership, Administration, or Administration & Supervision and any area of ESE. Completion of Leadership Experiences and Administrative Development (LEAD) or a comparable program is a mandatory requirement for eligibility to become an assistant principal.
Assistant Directors – Technical Colleges – Hold or be eligible for Florida Certification in Local Director of Vocational Education, Educational Leadership, Administration, or Administration & Supervision. Completion of Leadership Experiences and Administrative Development (LEAD) or a comparable program is a mandatory requirement for eligibility to become an assistant principal.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Four (4) years’ experience at the level at which the position exists is preferred, as outlined in School Board Policy 4002.14.
- Bilingual skills.

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
