POSITION GOAL

To perform in a responsible and accurate manner semiskilled work under the supervision of a skilled journey trades employee and all tasks geared to improving the skill and proficiency of the apprentice with the ultimate promotion to a journey trades classification.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive assignments and work under the direct supervision of a journey trades employee.
  • Work from ladders or scaffolding.
  • Assume responsibility for all materials assigned until they are properly expended and recorded.
  • Service equipment when so directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Assume responsibility and effect repairs when trained.
  • Comply with all aspects of the indenturement agreement, including appropriate number of hours in attendance for on-the-job training and schooling necessary for the designated trade.
  • Purchase all necessary textbooks or other materials related to apprenticeship training and pay registration fees as required for such training.
  • Follow both written and oral instructions.
  • Work well with others.
  • Participate, successfully, in the training programs offered to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to the assignments.
  • Operate School Board owned vehicle in a safe manner and assume responsibility for all supplies and equipment on the vehicle.
  • Complete all projects in a competent workmanlike manner and ensure proper recording of time and materials.
  • Perform all duties which require extensive physical effort such as climbing, lifting over 60 pounds, pulling, etc.
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
  • Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
  • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
