MAINTENANCE FUND CONTROL SPECIALIST

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Maintenance Funding Control Specialist shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below. • Review work orders daily to verify appropriate coding, contact appropriate persons to clarify questionable situations, and initiate corrections, as necessary. • Determine and assign proper codes to requests for capital and maintenance expenditures. • Review charges made to capital charge codes on biweekly printouts to ensure that proper controls have been maintained. Initiate corrections, as necessary. • Provide assistance to department and schools for explanation and clarification of account classification and to Comprehensive, OnLine Maintenance, Purchasing and Stores System (COMPASS) Program Data Entry Operators concerning work orders and funding. • Set-up charge codes for capital projects. • Monitor maintenance projects for capital improvement funds and for all Maintenance Department budgets. Initiate corrections, as necessary, to assure correct records. • Determine and initiate reimbursements to schools and departments for work spent on capital and maintenance projects. • Control purchases of maintenance and capital tools and equipment. • Maintain records and prepare reports on budget and expenses for capital improvement funds, maintenance and bond issue projects. • Interact effectively with the general public, staff members, students, teachers, parents, and administrators, using tact and good judgment. • Operate standard office equipment, such as any generation of typewriter, calculator, CRT terminal, microcomputer, word processor, copier, etc., as well as equipment developed or advanced from future technology as required by the job. • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. • Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities. • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities. • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures. • Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies. • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: • Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program. Twelve (12) semester hours of post high school instruction in business, office management, accounting, or related field. • Experience - Six (6) years of professional experience in a school district or comparable environment. OR • Associates' degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business, office management, accounting, or related field. Maintenance Funding Control Specialist (cont.) SBBC: MM-047 2 • Three (3) years of professional experience in a school district or comparable environment. OR • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in business, office management, accounting or related field. • Must have the ability to perform diversified duties involving an intensive knowledge in the restricted field. • Computer skills as required for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: • Related work experience preferred. • Experience in a maintenance environment preferred. • Bilingual skills preferred. • The hiring administrator may specify preferred, appropriate additional qualifications as may be related to the job
Salary Range: $47,700 - $73,127
