PAYROLL PROCESSOR

POSITION GOAL
To perform the clerical tasks necessary to process payrolls and to maintain payroll records. Process employee time reports: adjust workers' records for changes in wage rates, supplementary benefits, or tax deductions; edit payroll listings against source records; trace and correct errors in listings; prepare periodic summary reports on payroll data; and other related duties. Work performed in compliance with governmental regulations, School Board payroll policy, and/or ISI payroll system.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Payroll Processor shall carry out the essential performance responsibilities listed below.
- Receive payroll documents from schools and departments and verify accuracy of the documents and compliance with applicable policies.
- Prepare necessary reports for entry of payroll data into the computer.
- Ensure that all data necessary for payroll check runs are prepared in a timely manner so as to comply with established payroll schedules.
- Investigate, trace and prepare documents to facilitate the accurate disbursement of payments (retroactive payments, settlements, etc.) other than ordinary payroll disbursements.
- Prepare documents for clarification of questionable payroll items (various leave balances, dollar balances, etc.).
- Respond to questions from schools and departments in reference to payroll procedures and payments.
- Prepare earnings reports for external agencies such as the Bureau of Workmen's Compensation, Social Security Administration, independent insurance companies, etc.
- Interact effectively with the general public, staff members, students, teachers, parents, and administrators, using tact and good judgment.
- Operate standard office equipment such as any generation of typewriter, calculator, CRT terminal, microcomputer, word processor, duplicator etc., as well as equipment developed or advanced from future technology as required by the job.
- Participate, successfully, in the training programs offered to increase the individual's skill and proficiency related to the assignment.
- Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.
- Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Payroll or designee.
- Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
