
POSITION GOAL
To perform skilled work in the fabrication, design, and installation of a variety of signs in compliance with district standards and regulations. This position is also responsible for coordinating, instructing, and overseeing the work of assigned trade apprentices and laborers to ensure quality, efficiency, and safety in all sign shop operations.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
- Minimum two (2) years of recent experience in sign fabrication and graphic design/editing using computer software programs.
- Substantial knowledge of all phases of signage/graphic design, layout, fabrication and installation including ADA-compliant, Braille, informational, directional, plaques, name plates, and labels.
- Experience operating a wide variety of computer fabrication equipment, printers, plotters, and software commonly used in the industry.
- Ability to read and interpret floor plans and site plans.
- Must be familiar with Florida Inventory School of Houses (FISH) reports.
- Ability to climb and work effectively from scaffolding, staging, ladders, platforms; experience in operating hi-lifts and boom trucks.
- Mathematical skills required for measurement and calculation.
- Effective interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license.
- This position will include pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
