TEACHER-BEHAVIORAL SUPPORT

POSITION GOAL: To serve as a support person for students, teachers, staff and parents related to the development, implementation, and monitoring of effective behavior management strategies at school and home to promote student success. ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: The Teacher, Behavioral Support shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below.
• Assist the administration and staff to develop and implement a school-wide behavior management system.
• Assist in the identification of students eligible for services provided by the Teacher, Behavioral Support.
• Assist in the development and implementation of individual student behavior plans.
• Provide affective support for students, parents, families and school staff.
• Coordinate the training in behavior management techniques for teachers, administrators, staff and parents through staff development strategies including modeling demonstration teaching, in coordination with Human Resource Development.
• Assist in the establishment and implementation of a specific behavior crisis plan.
• Serve as a member of the school's Child Support Team/At-Risk Advocacy Team.
• Disseminate resource materials related to individual and group behavior management.
• Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
• Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
• Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
• Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures. • Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• An earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate subject area related to the assignment with valid Florida certification.
• Five (5) years of successful teaching work experience
. • OR
• An earned master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate subject area related to the assignment with valid Florida certification.
• Three (3) years of successful teaching work experience. • Previous work experience which demonstrated the ability to work effectively with behavioral/descriptive/disorderly students.
• Ability to work cooperatively with peers.
• Prior experience which documents the ability to communicate effectively.
• Computer skills as required for the position. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policy.
