ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, IT BUSINESS OPERATIONS

POSITION GOAL
Improve the quality and efficiency of the IT Division by leading the IT Business Operations team.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise staff as assigned in the performance of job duties.
- Lead the IT Business Ops Team in the financial and business operational functions of the IT Division.
- Review change orders for appropriate funding and approval.
- Perform selected project close-out reviews (deliverables) to ensure that the District has received full value under the contract and a complete record of the project is created and maintained for future reference.
- Provide technical support to Capital Systems and Budget staff in analyzing project schedule and funding process.
- Organize, plan, and track the IT Blueprint using critical path method.
- Assist in the development of criteria for analysis and prioritization of projects.
- Coordinate, analyze and prepare information for submission and inclusion for Technology Board Items.
- Participate in high-level communications with responses to Board Members, Internal/External Auditors and Senior Management staff referrals and Public Request for information relative to the IT Division.
- Lead, plan and track the IT Budget cycle.
- Maintain asset Management database for the Chief Information Officer division.
- Participate in high-level communications with Florida Department of Education (DOE) and Federal Department of Education staff in compliance documentation including the Education Technology plan.
- Supervise the process of gathering information, performing required analysis, and applying for special federal ERATE Grant funding through Schools and Library Division (SLD).
- Complete special projects assigned by the Chief Information Officer and Executive Director of IT Services or designee.
- Work closely with senior management and department heads in the District to present information and communicate on specific special projects of the Education Technology Services department.
- Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
- Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
- Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
- Research and have familiarity with School District databases and performance evaluation models.
- Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
- Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of five (5) years within the last eight (8) years of experience in the field related to the title of the position with at least three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Knowledge of public education finances, capital funding and public project budgeting.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree majors include, Computer Science, Accounting or other related field.
- Experience with Department of Education and Schools and Library Division regulations.
- Bilingual skills.

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
