POSITION GOAL

  • To design, maintain, and implement new and existing systems as well maintain student information systems support within the School District.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise staff as assigned in the performance of job duties. 
  • Lead and supervise a large-scale student information system team which involves reviewing and approving staff’s work. 
  • Design new systems and strategies to achieve objectives related to student information systems and program development specifications. 
  • Prepare implementation plans for all new systems and coordinate the implementation effort related to student information systems. 
  • Coordinate the activities (maintenance, development, and process continuous improvement) for student information system applications. 
  • Work with users to coordinate and prioritize projects (maintenance, development, and continuous improvement). 
  • Communicate the status and progress of projects with users. 
  • Work closely with end users and stakeholders to test and validate system enhancements 
  • Assist in Student Information System (SIS) related hardware/software evaluations. 
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advanced level SIS application support to all levels of internal and external stakeholders and provide guidance to the SIS team to ensure alignment with the strategic goals of the District. 
  • Oversee the team responsible for application support and end user enablement for a student information system and assist in SIS related hardware/software evaluations. 
  • Collaborate with departments related to the improvement of student information and adhere to state and federal guidelines. 
  • Comply with administrative rules, directives, policies, procedures, regulations, and statutes governing the distribution of confidential information.
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida. 
  • Participate in the training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to the job responsibilities. 
  • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, or designee
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five (5) years within the last eight (8) years of experience in developing or modernizing documenting and implementing systems, with at least three (3) years of experience in a supervisory capacity in system designs, project management, and implementation
  • High level of technical knowledge of database management systems and student information systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills as required for the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Manage student information in a large-scale student information system.
  • Bilingual skills.

Frequently interacts and/or meets with District and School-based staff as well as the IT Division staff.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
