POSITION GOAL

Ensure the Broward County School District has competitive and equitable pay plans that meet legal requirements by completing broad assignments with responsibility for analyzing wage and salary procedures and trends.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Compensation Analyst shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below.

  • Assist in developing or maintaining a classification and compensation plan to objectively rank jobs.
  • Evaluate jobs using the appropriate evaluation instruments for the salary schedule to which the job is assigned to ascertain the job qualifications, performance responsibilities, etc., prepare an evaluation and establish the rationale for each respective evaluation.
  • Correlate the job evaluations with comparable/competitive wage and salary data. Evaluate the job ranking within the School District against the external salary data.
  • Cooperate with other school systems and agencies in the sharing of material and information.
  • Prepare wage and salary survey studies, maintain wage and salary and other statistical records and reference materials as directed.
  • Research, document, and maintain an on-going analysis of economic trends as they relate to employee compensation.
  • Effectively communicate complex, technical information by utilizing advanced written, technical, and human relations skills.
  • Maintain organized system for a periodic review of established job specifications and salary grades, which may include job analysis.
  • Assist, upon request, with determining cost impacts related to job assignments, promotions, demotions, salary schedule changes, etc.
  • Assist with the preparation of a wage and salary schedule book encompassing all approved schedules and general information.
  • Research requests to confirm salary placement by monitoring the application of the bargaining agreement provisions related to compensation.
  • Assist in accurately documenting work performed throughout the district by preparing job descriptions following standard format currently in use.
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
  • Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
  • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee
 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • An earned associate’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.

OR

  • An earned bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience and/or training in the field related to the title of the position.

AND

  • Computer skills as required for the position to include a minimum of two (2) years’ experience in database management and spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and guidelines applicable to compensation programs including pay and classification principles, procedures, and techniques.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree major in personnel administration, personnel relations, business administration, or other related field.
  • Bilingual skills and Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred.

May work with employees at all levels by utilizing advanced communication skills to carry out broad project assignments.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
