INSTRUCTIONAL FACILITATOR - MTSS (Secondary)

POSITION GOAL
Prioritize services and facilitate technical assistance and support to schools that have been identified as low achieving, based on state and/or federal standards. Identify the support required to comply with federal and state legislation, priorities, and standards, through the application of effective methods, evidence-based instructional strategies, and coordination of resources which are targeted to achieve measurable school improvement. Focus on effective strategies to improve student academic achievement, with special emphasis in the areas of reading, science, and mathematics.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Instructional Facilitator shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below:
- Manifest a professional code of ethics and values.
- Model the routine, intentional and effective use of technology in daily work, including communications, organization, and management tasks.
- Provide a non-threatening, open, professional, and collaborative work relationship with assigned schools.
- Serve as a professional partner who works collaboratively with schools on all aspects of adhering to requirements, reporting, training, technical assistance, support, conference calls, meetings, special requests for assistance, and preparation of materials for school use.
- Actively provide services that facilitate successful compliance with the federal and state requirements that must be met by schools receiving failing grades and schools identified as “in need of improvement” through the differentiated accountability model (dam) project or other state/federal projects.
- Conduct site visits with designated schools after reviewing school assessment trend data, school improvement plan (sip), and district improvement and assistance and intervention plan (diaip).
- Promote and support implementation of florida’s school improvement and accountability system in assigned schools while helping to identify or clarify issues and assist schools with determining appropriate solutions.
- Provide ongoing technical assistance to school staff based on identified needs and data including the implementation of: evidence-based instructional strategies and promising practices; rubrics, monitoring tools, and guidance; professional learning communities; progress and other required reporting; insightful and timely feedback to schools based on analysis of submitted reports and onsite observations and curriculum assessments; sip development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation; tailored instruction to meet individual needs.
- Keep abreast of state and federal educational legislation, sbe mandates, and fdoe policies and procedures.
- Continually analyze student performance data and conduct school improvement needs assessment to identify and prioritize schools’ unmet needs.
- Support the successful alignment and implementation of school and district improvement plans with the comprehensive k-12 research-based reading plan.
- Support the statewide reading initiative as outlined in florida statute (s. 1008.25, f.s.).
- Support the successful compliance with statutory requirements related to reading deficiencies, and k-12 students and parent rights (s. 1008.25, f.s.).
- Identify and link schools with promising practices and programs, particularly in the areas of reading, math, writing, and science.
- Work with area and district staff to coordinate efforts and provide appropriate services to schools so that there can be a cohesive, sustained, intensive and classroom-focused approach that is rigorous, engaging, and relevant for students, including but not limited to development of publications, databases, and monitoring tools; participation in statewide conferences/workshops, and bureau meetings as required.
- Execute all assignments, projects, and reporting in a timely and professional manner.
- Log all activities on the online database by the required deadlines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- An earned master's degree from an accredited institution; hold or be eligible for a valid Florida Teacher’s Certificate in a core curriculum area.
- Three (3) years job related experience.
- OR
- An earned bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; hold or be eligible for a valid Florida Teacher’s Certificate in a core curriculum area.
- Five (5) years job related experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prior experience working with instructional strategies to improve student performance in demographically diverse school environments.
- Documented evidence of learning gains in student achievement, through a history of improved standard performance metrics, such as FCAT, standardized test scores, adequate yearly progress for identified subgroups, or other recognized academic performance measures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Florida certification in Educational Leadership or Administration and Supervision is preferred. Bilingual skills preferred.
SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose
Works in close cooperation and collaboration with district, area, and school-based administrators to identify, implement, and monitor required school improvement initiatives.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
