IT BUSINESS ANALYST

POSITION GOAL
Coordinate with various BCPS departments, divisions, schools, and other stakeholders on the identification, planning, and implementation of opportunities for improvement and supporting technology solutions.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The IT Business Analyst shall carry out the essential performance responsibilities listed below:
- Partner with assigned stakeholder groups to identify problems of practice, opportunities for improvement, and ensure that technology solutions are providing maximum efficiency and effectiveness.
- Identify technology solutions to address problems of practice and opportunities for improvement.
- Plan and coordinate the selection, purchase, and implementation of technology solutions.
- Work closely with training and adoption specialists on the full planning, implementation, training & continuous improvement (PITAC) process of technology solutions.
- Assist Project Managers in drafting project plans, charters, schedules, meetings, etc.
- Analyze and document user requirements for technology solutions.
- Create SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunities, and threats analysis), needs assessments, and functional requirements for needed technology solutions.
- Work closely with vendors or IT staff to test end-user requirements and validate enhancements for continuous improvement projects as assigned.
- Coordinate the development of systems documentation for projects that include but are not limited to flow charts, SOPS, logic diagrams, data dictionary entries, etc.
- Assist trainers by providing documentation for updates to training manuals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of three (3) years, within the last (5) years of experience with the analysis and fulfillment of business needs.
• Computer skills as required for the position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience working with educational data.
- Bilingual skills.
SIGNIFICANT CONTACTS-frequency, contact, purpose
Frequently works with District and school-based administrators at all levels to ensure appropriate information technology needs are being met and maintained. Communicates frequently with all stakeholders to obtain customer feedback for performance improvement.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
