POSITION GOAL

Troubleshoot equipment replacement for Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA), and site coordination/ logistics to ensure minimal disruption to the site during installs. Also is responsible for but not limited to equipment configuration, monitoring alerts for tickets and (or) failures, and maintenance of site equipment. Works under the direction of senior technical or leadership staff for any data and voice network products and any other system as identified as a Network Operations Center (NOC), and (or) Local Area Network (LAN) edge responsibility.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The IT Network Support I shall carry out the essential performance responsibilities listed below:

  • Meet site customer needs by ensuring prompt and courteous service and being an advocate for site uptime performance, network resource availability, and security of the network equipment that operate under BCPS IT and security guidelines.
  • Diagram the logical and physical layout of the network equipment at the closet/site.
  • Install, and upgrade network components and planning for responding to service outages and other problems.
  • Support and troubleshoot network equipment / server or appliances and desktop-based, laptop and server hardware, whether software or hardware based, but not limited to routing and switching, uninterrupted power system, access points, controllers etc...
  • Perform planned maintenance and implements updates for network devices / appliances, whether software or hardware based. system and integrates these within the network.
  • Document customer requirements for specific site project including designing new site network solutions and preparing specifications, as assigned.
  • Implement enhancements for specific any network existing systems, as assigned.
  • Report on site system capabilities and work with network team to identify load capacity within benchmarks for optimal operation of network systems.
  • Collaborate with business units and schools, creates professional development materials for end users. Assist with technical support.
  • Assume responsibility for all priorities and projects that assist in achieving the District’s Strategic Plan.
  • May act as a technical lead to site technical projects.
  • Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
  • Participate in the training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to the job responsibilities.
  • Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
  • Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
  • Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, or designee.

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • An earned associate degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of three (3) years, within the last five (5) years of experience in the field related to the title of the position.

Or

  • A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Education Development Testing Program.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience within the last six (6) years, in information technology support in network systems or competency as a technology professional, supporting network enterprise environments.

And

  • Computer skills as required for the position.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • An earned associate degree from an accredited institution
  • Bilingual skills.

Communicates regularly with employees throughout the District using tact and good judgment to complete assigned projects.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of  employment shall be those established by the School Board.
