
POSITION GOAL
To operate his/her program under a code of conduct beyond question. To make positive efforts to teach the sport, as well as the rules, sportsmanship codes, and other values available within the activity.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Athletic Director shall carry out the performance responsibilities listed below.
• See that all athletic activities are conducted in accordance with the policies of the School as established by the principal, the Florida High School Activities Association, the Broward County Athletic Association and The School Board of Broward County.
• Be responsible, (together with the principal) for the conduct and control of the students of his/her school at athletic events and, through the coaches, for the conduct of the players.
• Provide leadership for the athletic department and place it in the proper educational perspective.
• Assist the principal in securing competent personnel for the athletic staff.
• Prepare and distribute a calendar of school athletic events.
• Assign facilities for all athletic events.
• Transmit all pertinent information from the State Association and conferences to the principal and coaches.
• Coordinate and supervise all special events related to the athletic program.
• Secure all needed personnel for the operation of the athletic program.
• Serve as treasurer of the school athletic fund.
• Prepare eligibility lists and any other reports as requested by State Associations, conferences, etc.
• Arrange for and approve all purchases of athletic equipment.
• Direct or supervise all publicity for athletic events.
• Secure transportation for the athletic events.
• Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibility.
• Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.
• Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
• Participate in training programs offered to enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to job responsibilities.
• Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
• Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
• Follow federal and state, as well as School Board policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
- Shall have a knowledge of the activity and be able to impart this knowledge to the participants.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
